I am all over places like Master Burger.  I always have these urges to drive to small towns and pick a local tiny restaurant and so everything in my power to stay away from the big box restaurants.  When you don't know when you will be back you need to make the best of it.

We were on our way up to a cottage with some friends and they mentioned that their ritual was to stop at Master Burger every time they drive up. I was totally ok with knowing that I was going to experience something new.  As soon as we pulled into the parking lot I knew this was going to be good.  It was exactly what I expected.  Quiet, old decor and 2 locals greeting you upon your arrival.  I became confused instantly as their menu had a huge selection of food.  I decided to get the burger after all it is called Master Burger.  I ordered the banquet home burger.  As soon as they put it on the grill.  I could smell the seasoning and the BBQ   Yes that's right the GRILL.  It was a charbroiled burger not like all these burger places that use a flat top.  The burger was cooked to perfection. Super tasty and seasoned very well.  Had the taste of something that would be made at home.  The fries were served in a white cardboard box just like back in the day.  Fries and gravy were amazing.  Crispy fries and beautiful thick gravy.  My wife ordered the chicken souvlaki on a pita with onion rings.  Onion Rings were beefy yet crispy.  Chicken was a great portion.  Not dry very moist.

Chances are Cookstown may be seeing some more of me in the near future.

An unintentionally  retro diner, with classics like fish & chips and omelets, that my husband thought was great.

This is our first visit in a number of years. Master Burger has a huge menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Prices are very reasonable. Food takes a bit to get to your table but the best thing is that it is hot and freshly cooked.

I'm gonna bottom line it: decent burger that's  better than fast food at affordable prices. A clean roomy restaurant with quirky decor, nice patio, sports channel on the boob tube (tv), with a hospitable and fun loving crew. Nice stop if you're in the area.
